As an outlier, there are many factors inflating cases and fatalities: high percentage of elderly, longtime smokers, large Chinese immigrant population for early transmission, and Lombardy, the center of worst impact, has an underfunded medical system packed past limits during normal cold/flu season.
National Institute of Health reviewed deaths: only 12% were found to have been directly from COVID-19, while the rest had pre-morbidities, making them likely to have died from ANYTHING.
